The military junta illegally seized power in Myanmar in a coup on 1 February 2021. Since then, pro-democracy protests have swept across the country. The Burmese people have overwhelmingly rejected the coup. Many Burmese artists who were working in government also joined CDM. Like others, these artists and their families have faced extreme financial difficulties. In addition, the coup has had a tremendous negative impact on Myanmar’s cultural life. The artists have been using their skills to make paintings, sculptures, and handicrafts while in hiding. The art works on this page are made by these artists on CDM.
