Aid in a Time of Displacement

In late March 2025, the calm of Ywama’s hills was broken by sudden tremors, displacing families and leaving villages in urgent need forcing families to flee their homes and take shelter wherever they could find safety.

By the time our trusted partners reached the area on April 7, 2025, over a hundred families were surviving in makeshift conditions, without access to basic necessities or healthcare. The need was clear and immediate.

With the support of compassionate donors, our trusted networks mobilized a response to provide relief with both practicality and dignity. In total, 111 displaced families received assistance to help them begin piecing their lives back together.

Each household received:

  • Six basic food staples — rice, oil, salt, and other essentials

  • A Dignity Kit — including reusable sanitary pads, underwear, soap, detergent, toothbrushes, and toothpaste

  • Baby diapers and snacks — especially for young children and elders

  • Clothing to replace what was lost in the flight from their homes

But aid wasn’t limited to material support. A mobile medical team accompanied the mission, offering basic healthcare to those who had gone weeks without treatment, addressing minor injuries, infections, and other unattended conditions.

What we witnessed in Ywama is a snapshot of a larger crisis, one unfolding quietly, village by village. But in this moment, thanks to your support, we were able to remind these displaced communities that they have not been forgotten.

Better Burma will continue to stand beside those facing hardship in silence. And we will continue to show up, bringing relief, dignity, and a shared hope for a more compassionate future.

Thank you for being part of this mission.
