Holes & Hope: Relief Through Communal Latrines

When the earthquake struck Tada‑U Township, it tore through homes, but it also shattered the simplest routines that give life its structure. One immediate and shocking loss for families was their latrines. Displaced, exposed, and in makeshift shelters, many had nowhere to go. This wasn’t just about comfort. It became a very real threat to health, especially for children, the elderly, and mothers who had already lost so much.

Then, hope appeared, crafted from concrete and compassion.

Thanks to your support, we built  communal latrines in Sakainn and Apyin Sa Yan villages. Each feels like a small miracle wrapped in rough-cut concrete rings and dug-out earth.

Because of these latrines, around 10 displaced families now have access to proper sanitation. That’s no longer having to choose between exposure and illness, a daily decision erased by something so seemingly basic.

Lives Changed, One Latrine at a Time

  • For children, it means less risk of disease in crowded shelters, especially when hygiene couldn’t be taken for granted.

  • For mothers and the elderly, it means self‑respect and safety restored, even if just by a step into a cleaner, private space.

  • For families, it means one less thing to fear in a setting where fear rules the day.

Latrines have already brought relief, but they are just the beginning. Across Tada-U, countless families are still waiting. Entire villages remain without even the most basic facilities. Until more can be built, many continue facing daily risks to their health, safety, and dignity.

Why Your Support Matters

When you support a communal latrine,  you’re rebuilding trust, health, and human worth. You’re answering silent prayers for safety and sanitation.

You are giving families in crisis something they didn’t realize they’d lost and something they didn’t know they could have again.
